The LIFETIME ACHEIVEMENT AWARD was awarded to Jane Smalley, for finishing her Personal Progress this year.
She entered the world almost sixteen years ago, as the angels sang and the world rejoiced. She grew in beauty and wisdom, charm and wit and blossomed from a wee, bouncing child into a fabulous, sophisticated Young Woman. Four years ago, she entered the Young Woman’s Academy and this experience changed her eternal destiny. She successfully waded through the trials and tribulations, the heartaches and heartbreaks, the minor crushes and first abiding loves of junior high and now reaps the rewards of one of life’s greatest pinnacles—being a sophomore in high school. Since her entrance into the Academy , this incredible Young woman has faithfully attended 250 church meetings, 250 mutual activities, give or take a few, and unfailingly attends her Seminary class. As if this weren’t enough, she performs stand up comedy routines, befriends newcomers to the Academy and slays the dragons of the world, through her exemplary standards of Faith, Divine Nature, Individual Worth, Knowledge, Choice and Accountability, Good Works, Integrity and Virtue.
But, to be honest, all of those accomplishments fade away, pale and dwindle in comparison to what she achieved this year.
This illustrious member of the Academy steadfastly completed 42 value experiences and over 70 hours of value projects, which she planned, carried out and recorded. As part of this conquest, she gained a knowledge that she is a daughter of God, relied upon the Holy Ghost, developed personal religious behaviors, such as prayer, scripture study, obedience to commandments, and service, kept her baptismal covenants and prepared to qualify for temple covenants, developed talents and skills that prepared her for her future roles, and established a pattern of step-by-step progress through her life.
This is a feat which has been fully carried out only three times in the history of the current Academy Presidency.
And it is for this latest and greatest accomplishment that the Presidency of the Young Women’s Academy proudly awards Jane Smalley with the most distinguished of all awards, the Lifetime Achievement Award.
For the GLASS HALF FULL AWARD, the nominees were:
Ashley Hammer, Winston Churchill, Pollyanna, Lance Armstrong
For the SUNSHINE IN THE SOUL AWARD, the nominees were:
Snow White, Mary Poppins, Sammy Claflin, Minnie Mouse
For the SERVICE WITH A SMILE AWARD, the nominees were:
Mother Theresa, Rachael Meads, Thomas S. Monson, Princess Diana
For the KUNG FU COURAGE AWARD, the nominees were:
Jackie Chan, Daniel Larusso, Kung Fu Panda, Maddie Johnston
For the 13th ARTICLE OF FAITH AWARD the nominees were:
Joseph Smith, Gordon B. Hinckley, Talyn Bevell, Moroni
The awards were given (our girls swept each category, by the way),

acceptance speeches made
and the evening ended with hors d’ouvres (or, in the words of Brayden, horse devores).

The Academy would like to thank our beautiful, talented, fun and energetic girls for humoring us in times such as these…we love you all!
